Ecosystem & Environment Sustainability

According to The Guardian, world population is about to exceed eight billion. The ever-growing population damages natural ecosystems. Moreover, the impact of changes in the balance of natural cycles on humans and other ecosystems has become increasingly significant.

Environmentalist Paul Hawken said, “Sustainability is about stabilizing the currently disruptive relationship between Earth’s two most complex systems – human culture and the living world.” We need to transform our economic activities by pursuing sustainable agriculture and circular economy and change our work practices by promoting sustainable architecture. Furthermore, we need to use science to develop sustainable innovative technologies, such as green technologies and renewable energies, to transform our lifestyle and conserve natural resources.

Fu Jen Catholic University has a Department of Life Science and a Department of Landscape Architecture. Moreover, the University has conducted numerous important studies on sustainability in the field of basic research.
